The Malicious Software Removal Tool is a handy little app from Microsoft that checks Windows XP/2000/2003 computers for infections by specific, prevalent malicious software and helps remove any infection found. The tool currently identifies and removes all variants of Bagle, Berbew, Blaster, Bropia, DoomJuice, Gaobot, Goweh, Korgo, Mydoom, Nachi, Netsky, Randex, Rbot, Sasser, Sober, Sobig, Zafi, Zindos, and Zotob malware.

The Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is updated on the second Tuesday of each month and on an as-needed basis. Windows Update will automatically download the tool for Windows XP users, which will then run in the background and subsequently delete itself. Alternatively, users can download the tool from the link above in order to run it more than once a month.
