Netscape Instant Messenger is virtually indistinguishable from AOL's Instant Messenger (AIM) v4.0 client, which should really come as no surprise considering Netscape is now owned by AOL. As with AIM, the Netscape Instant Messenger makes it possible to exchange free, private messages with your online friends in real-time — unlike e-mail, instant messages appear as soon as they're sent.
