Death2Spam
How Does It Perform?

How Does It Perform?

In the 10 days that I've used D2S, I have received:

Total messages2362
Messages Classified as good186779.04%
Messages Classified as spam34014.39%
Messages not classified (unsure)155 6.56%
Unsure e-mail re-classified as good 92 3.90%
Unsure e-mail re-classified as spam 64 2.71%
Good e-mail mis-classified as spam 17 0.72%
Spam e-mail mis-classified as good 25 1.06%
Spam and good accuracy 98.22%

Given the number of messages and the types of e-mails I receive, I'm amazed at the accuracy of D2S. It does slow down the mail delivery a little bit, but part of that might be due to Norton AntiVirus checking the mail as it arrives. Any slight slow down is more than compensated by the time it saves me from sorting through and weeding out the trash e-mails each day.

Death2Spam offers two levels of service. You may select the Basic or Premium level according to your needs and pocketbook.

The Basic anti-spam service has an average spam-recognition accuracy of 95% and includes:

  • a collaborative global database
  • e-mail account statistics & logging
  • database training

The Premium anti-spam service has an average spam-recognition accuracy of 99.5% and includes:

  • a Collaborative global database
  • e-mail account statistics & logging
  • database training
  • personal database and 25MB of storage
  • user options and preference screen
  • filtering aggression-level settings
  • real-time blacklist server utilization
  • server-based Bayesian anti-virus
  • Web page analysis
  • help-desk & technical support

The Death2Spam service is free for the first 30 days, which allows ample time for a new user to see how well D2S Premium Service works and provide any training required. After this initial 30-day trial period, individuals may continue to use the Basic service for personal POP accounts at no charge. The Premium Service is available at a subscription fee of US$35/year. The Death2Spam Project offers complimentary e-mail filtering to non-profits, charities, and social-service organizations. Just e-mail them with your details.

Death2Spam also offers an Enterprise Edition suite, an industrial-strength e-mail content-control system specially designed for enterprise deployment and particularly suited to ISP and corporate gateways. Single server licenses start from US$20 per user/year, which includes frequent software upgrades, 24-hour problem resolution turnaround, and premium technical support. Obviously I wasn't able to test the Enterprise Edition of the service, but you may request information by contacting info@death2spam.net.
