MSN Messenger for Mac OS X Instant Messaging Features Forrest Stroud
Instant Messaging Features
First and foremost, MSN Messenger is a client for exchanging instant messages with friends and acquaintances. In addition to sending instant messages, you can also send quick e-mail messages to your friend, but Messenger will first have to call up your default mail client in order to do so. MSN Messenger also sports a Mail button and a 'My E-mail Inbox' link that will open Outlook Express or your default mail client and download any new mail for you.
MSN Messenger does offer a number of status options to let other users know your whereabouts. Options include Online, Offline, Busy, Be Right Back, Away, Out To Lunch, and On The Phone. Another option allows you to appear offline even though you're really online. You can also set an option to change your status to Away when your computer has been inactive for a set number of minutes. You can also build two lists, My Allow List and My Block List, to specify who can see your online status and send instant messages to you.
