p2pLog Home Edition Lets Parents Monitor Kids' IM Conversations Who Said What When? Eric Grevstad
Parents who are worried about protecting their children in cyberspace, or IM addicts who wish they had a searchable archive of their online conversations, have a new solution in p2pLog Home Edition, a utility that monitors all the Internet traffic over a household's cable or DSL modem, looking specifically for AOL, MSN, ICQ, or Yahoo instant messages. The latter are automatically stored in a database on the p2pLog computer, with no software installed on the child's computer.
Mom and Dad can analyze the archived conversations based on participants, time, or date, or scan for keywords. The $50 software monitors and archives IM traffic on up to three computers.
