A Broad Array of Internet Services From One Centralized Interface
First and foremost, MSN Explorer is designed to offer a broad array of Internet services from one centralized interface that is both intuitive to use and easy on the eyes. While the Internet Explorer Web engine serves as the core technology behind MSN Explorer, IE's rather bland interface has been replaced in MSN Explorer with large, eye-catching graphics and buttons that offer quick access to MSN Explorer's multitude of services.
While in most cases the technologies behind these services derive from separate applications, each of the services has been repackaged with an attractive, albeit more simplistic, design that is contained within the main browser window. From the central MSN Explorer interface you can browse the Web, send and receive e-mail, play multimedia content like MP3 files and streamed video, send instant messages to online buddies, call up Microsoft Calendar to check for upcoming appointments, and much more.
Most of these tasks are available with one click from the MSN Explorer toolbar, which differs from IE's in that the toolbar is geared more for inexperienced users with large, intuitive icon buttons. The toolbar buttons offer quick access to features like the MSN Explorer e-mail client, your MSN Messenger's buddies list, your list of Web Favorites, MSN's Communities and Chat web page, MSN's MoneyCentral web site, MSN's eShop online shopping site, and WindowsMedia.com's Media Guide with links to multimedia downloads like streamed video and MP3s.
