Steganos isn't without its faults, though. If you want to encrypt your e-mail messages, you will still need a client like Pretty Good Privacy. Steganos can encrypt and hide data within a file attachment, but it can't encrypt the message itself. Another shortcoming is that the file you hide your data in must be rather large in order to work, meaning you'll often need to have some large graphics on hand in order to get the most use out of Steganos.
Finally, while encrypting and hiding one or two files is a rather simple affair, there are no batch processing tools to facilitate working with several files or complete directories. If you need to encrypt a large number of files and don't need to hide them afterwards, you'll probably want to look at other security alternatives.
