A Deceptively Powerful Security Suite
The simple wizard-like front-end of Steganos belies the power that lies within the client. Steganos features the ability to generate keys with up to 2048-bit encryption strength, making an apparently simple program deceptively powerful. In addition to encrypting and hiding files within other files, the Stegnoas encryptor will also compress many types of files . Images for example can be compressed by as much as 50% or more; text files don't fare quite as well but can still be compressed to a small degree.
One benefit to Steganos over similar encryption tools is that the client isn't limited to use inside the U.S. and Canada. While U.S. customers need to download Steganos from a server located within the U.S., an international release is available for those living outside of the states or provinces. Another advantage to using Steganos is the Steganos Decryptor, a freeware client that decrypts and reveals data hidden and encrypted by Steganos. This allows you or your friends to restore files that have previously been encrypted without having to register the complete program. Of course, you'll still need the password in order to decrypt and reveal files.
