The latest major releases of WinZip, versions 8.0 and 9.0, offer a number of exciting new features as well as several significant enhancements for existing ones.
Here's a synopsis of what's new in 8.0:
· A Zip and E-Mail tool that automatically ZIPs files and attaches them to your e-mail messages (also automatically deletes the ZIP file for you after sending the message) -- This is a great new feature, · An automatic desktop theme and screen saver installer, · Enhanced WinZip Wizard with ability to create and update Zip files, · Extract and install from MIME and similar encoded files in WinZip Wizard, · Automatic inclusion of subfolders when adding or updating Zip files, · Enhanced right-click functionality (displays only file-related actions), · New animated progress dialogs during lengthy archive operations, · An optional Windows Explorer-style toolbar, · and much more.
Version 9.0 adds several major enhancements to those introduced in v8.0, including:
· Support for 128- and 256-bit key AES encryption · Support for the 64-bit extensions to the Zip file format, · Support for the "enhanced deflate" compression method, · and various other enhancements and fixes.
