Adobe Photoshop CS
Introduction
Forrest Stroud

Adobe Photoshop is the premier image editing application — nothing else even comes close. Unfortunately, this is true in terms of price as well as power. With a list price of just under $650, Photoshop is priced out of the range of many individual users and small businesses.

But if your job involves graphic design for print or Internet media, chances are you can reap some amazing benefits from Photoshop. And if you happen to own an older version of the app, you can upgrade to the latest release, CS (also known as Photoshop 8.0, for only $169.

Adobe has also made available for download a trial evaluation edition of the Photoshop CS release. The evaluation includes nearly all of the features in the commercial release, but it does not allow you to save, print, export, or copy files to other applications. The evaluation also includes only a small sampling of the 100+ special effects filters packaged with the commercial release.
