The latest release of WinZip SE, v2.2, allows you to create either 16-bit files for Windows 3.x (with DOS/short filenames) or 32-bit files for Windows 95/98/NT (with long filenames). In addition, you can now configure a setup/installation program to run automatically from the archive in order to help novice users through the process. The newest version also allows for the default language of the self-extractor to be in English or German.
Additional options in WinZip SE include the ability to select a default folder for unzipping files to, the ability to display your own icon with the self-extracting file, an option for automatically overwriting any existing files with the same name, an option for spanning multiple removable disks, support for passwords and splash screens, and several text fields for informing users about your product or for providing additional instructions.
