Updated Internet Components and IE 5.5
The current release also includes a number of updated Microsoft components, including Outlook Express (v5.5), the Windows Media Player (v6.1), Microsoft Wallet (v3.0), Microsoft Chat (v2.5), FrontPage Express (v2.0), NetMeeting (v3.0), and an improved Java virtual machine.
Other new additions in IE5 include an offline browsing pack, a Repair tool for the browser, a useful FTP Folders feature that makes FTP site directories look like standard desktop folders, an improved Internet Connection Wizard, and an automatic import/export Favorites tool that sends your Favorites to Netscape and your Netscape Bookmarks to Internet Explorer (if you're using both browsers).
The latest major release of Internet Explorer, IE 5.5, will be the featured browser in the upcoming ME (Millennium Edition) edition of Windows and includes several useful additions like built-in 128-bit encryption support (i.e. there's no need to download a separate encryption patch with IE 5.5); an extremely helpful Print Preview feature; Synchronized Multimedia Integration Language support; support for colored scroll-bars, transparent IFrames, and vertical text layout; and improved support for DHTML and Cascading Style Sheets.
