Another cool feature in AOL Instant Messenger is the use of two separate tickers for news and stock reports. The news ticker runs in a separate window and displays clickable headlines for national news, sports, entertainment, and business events. The stock ticker is attached to the main AIM window and can display up to forty stocks. Both tickers feature extensive customization options; however, there is no option for running the stock ticker in a separate window.
Additional features in AIM include file transfer capabilities for sending and receiving files with buddies, the ability to check downloaded files for viruses with your virus scanner application, an auto-responder feature that displays a message when you're away from your computer, a variety of privacy options, the ability to personalize the colors and fonts used in your messages, a Web search feature that utilizes AOL.com Search, and customizable sounds for most system events.
