While earlier releases of MusicMatch Jukebox were limited to 'near-CD' quality recording rates of 96 Kbps, version 5.0 of the Jukebox allows you to record CDs at your choice of 128 Kbps or even 160 Kbps (with oversampling). In comparison, Real Jukebox currently allows recording at only 96 Kbps. Advanced recording capabilities in MusicMatch Jukebox include fade control, volume normalization, clipping, and the ability to play music in real time while recording.
CD-quality recorded tracks are compressed at a rate of 12:1 by MusicMatch Jukebox; those tracks with near CD-quality are compressed at nearly 18:1. For users with limited disk space, a FM Radio Quality RealAudio recording option will compress files at a rate of more than 70 to 1. MusicMatch Jukebox's line-in recording makes it possible to record MP3s from audio CD, cassette, microphone, or even vinyl sources; the competing RealJukebox only allows for audio CD ripping at this time.
