The most recent release of DirectX, DirectX 8.0, debuted recently with a number of useful additions, including near photo-realistic graphics, scalability for massive multiplayer games, an improved audio experience, and support for Microsoft SideWinder Game Voice Share voice communications technology.
The Game Voice software allows users to easily find and talk to friends online as well as launch direct-play games together. Improvements for Game Voice with DirectX 8 include enhanced performance, a number of resolved game compatibility issues with Windows 2000, and the ability to share sound card resources with Game Voice products for improved chat quality in games.
