NetMeeting vs. The Competition
Aside from its application sharing capabilities, NetMeeting has more than enough features to keep Internet communications gurus happy. Despite lacking some of the features found in the competition, including Speak Freely and Televox's advanced compression and encryption options; Internet Phone and WebPhone's call waiting, caller ID support, and voice mail; and Speak Freely's cross-platform compatibility, overall NetMeeting is a total Internet communications package and is not far from being the perfect solution for all users.
NetMeeting's phone capabilities help the app claim a spot ahead of the middle of the pack relative to other Internet Phone clients, and its superior conferencing features give it the nod when the scope is enlarged to include all communications clients. NetMeeting is offered on both Windows 95/98 and NT platforms and is available in a variety of languages, including French, Chinese, Japanese, Portugese, Italian, Korean, and more.
