The 5.0 release of Outlook Express offers a number of new features, including better integration with the Windows Address Book (the address book is now featured in the lower left hand pane of the Outlook Express interface for quick access to contacts), a more attractive interface (with a new starting page that lists your e-mail, newsgroup, and contact information), enhancements to the Message Rules filtering system, a new Junk Mail SPAM filtering system, a Stationery wizard, and new customizable toolbar options.
The current 5.x releases are integrated with Internet Explorer 5.x and, like previous versions of the mail client, must be downloaded with Internet Explorer (i.e. a separate download is not available). The latest release of Outlook Express also includes Outlook 98's advanced mail filtering system (the Rules Wizard). This wizard is the most advanced e-mail filtering system available and is a must-have for anyone that works with multiple-level mail filters.
