Content Filtering: IQfilter and IQblock
One of InterQuick's most useful tools is the IQfilter. This is a content filtering tool that, based on a user's preferences, automatically removes gratuitous content from Web pages. Content removed can be anything from banner advertisements or background images to sound files or ActiveX controls. The result is a reduction in the time it takes to download a page as well as a minimization of the distractions that can result from advertisements and similar content.
IQblock is the second of the two content filtering tools in InterQuick. Its role is to restrict a user's access to undesirable Web content. Depending on the desire of the administrator, restricted content can be anything from pornographic or online gambling sites to time-consuming sports or hobby Web sites. Parents and employers can utilize IQblock to ensure that their children or employees are not able to access indecent or inappropriate content.
IQblock is completely configurable by the InterQuick administrator so that he or she can determine what type of content should be restricted. Additionally, InterQuick's IQblock tool can utilize Secure Computing's SmartFilter subscription service which automatically filters out a broad range of unacceptable content and is updated regularly to keep current with the ever-changing Internet. Annual rates for the SmartFilter Basic service start at $29.95 for a single user and scale up to $189.95 for 25 users.
