Web Acceleration: IQfetch and IQschedule
InterQuick's IQfetch tool takes advantage of unused bandwidth during idle periods when connected to the 'net by working in the background to preemptively load and cache Web pages. The cached content are Web pages that are available as links from the page a user is currently viewing. As a result, if a user clicks on any of the links on the page, his or her browsing experience will be expedited as IQfetch delivers a locally cached copy of the page instead of requesting a fresh copy from the Internet.
InterQuick serves as a proxy server in this situation, allowing the IQfetch component to intercept browser requests and directly serve cached content if available. However, for those sites with frequently updated content (i.e. multiple updates each day), InterQuick can be configured to bypass any cached content and instead directly download the requested information from the site itself. This non-caching option is particularly well-suited for use on sites with dynamic content like stock updates, weather reports, or sports scoreboards.
The second component to InterQuick's Web Acceleration function, IQschedule, will automatically download a user's favorite Web pages at a scheduled time, resulting in instantaneous access and viewing of the pages when requested at a later time. Any number of sites can be scheduled and the downloading process itself can be set to occur just once or on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis.
Both IQfetch and IQschedule feature dial-on-demand, which will automatically connect your computer to the Internet, download all requested material, and then optionally disconnect your computer from the Internet. An example of how to best use the scheduling and dial-on-demand features is to set up IQschedule to download your favorite Web sites thirty minutes to an hour before you begin working so that the content is already available to you when you arrive.
