Should I Upgrade to Windows 98 Second Edition?
Upgrading to Windows 98 Second Edition makes perfect sense if you fall into one or more of the following categories: 1) You're a current user of Windows 3.x or Windows 95 and are looking to upgrade (again, $109 for existing non-Windows 98 users); 2) You don't regularly download product updates and bug fixes from the Windows 98 Update; or 3) Internet Connection Sharing is a must-have feature for you, and you don't currently own WinGate, MidPoint, or a similar net sharing utility.
Otherwise, you'd be better served by taking a trip to the Windows 98 Update center and downloading the latest releases of Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, Media Player, and DirectX for free. The update center is a place you'll want to familiarize yourself with for another reason, as well; even if do purchase the Windows 98 Second Edition, you'll still need to access the Update site for future updates and bug fixes.
