Windows 98 Second Edition is now available for purchase over the Web as a $24.99 CD-ROM update for current users of Windows 98 and as a $109 upgrade for users of Windows 3.x or 95. Both versions include the Windows 98 Service Pack 1 (also available separately on CD-ROM) as well as a variety of app updates and new features.
Windows 98 Service Pack 1 is a collection of bug fixes and Y2K fixes for the initial release of Windows 98, most of which have been available separately for the last few months as free downloads on the Windows 98 Update site. The service pack itself is also available for download through the Windows 98 Update site, or you can order the SP-1 CD for $5.00 from Microsoft (free + $5.00 shipping).
