PIRCH Features, Features, and More Features Forrest Stroud
Features, Features, and More Features
PIRCH has the capability for private text-based chatting, as well as the ability to send and receive text, video, sound effects, MIDI, and synthesized speech files. The client also offers an integrated media player for playing files received via IRC, bypassing the need to load an external viewer for this repetitive task.
Additional PIRCH features include the ability to allow concurrent multiple server connections; real-time video support (in versions .87 and later); user definable aliases, variables, and events handling; support for CTCP (Client to Client Protocols), DCC (Direct Client to Client), and TDCC (file transfer protocol); flood handling; PIL (PIRCH Interpreted Language), and a built-in scripting language.
The impressive feature-set continues with multimedia plug-in capabilities (including Real Audio); SOCKS support; a personal biography feature; an integrated finger client and a DNS lookup app; direct integration with Netscape Navigator or the Web browser of your choice; and a whole lot more. In addition to offering context-sensitive help, PIRCH also includes a beginner's guide to IRC and extensive documentation covering the many details and features of the client.
