Calypso Mail entered the commercial mail client arena with dreams of successfully challenging the likes of Eudora, Pegasus Mail, Netscape Messenger, and Internet Explorer's Outlook Express, but its attempts to go head-to-head with the competition and emerge victorious ultimately failed.
Now available as discontinued, unsupported freeware, Calypso stands as a solid mail client with a sufficient feature set to go along with a graphically appealing (if somewhat dated) interface. The client has some minor issues when run on Windows 2000 or Windows XP platforms, but a shareware, supported mail client based on Calypso, Courier, is available that addresses these issues.
