Drawbacks and Limitations in MSN Messenger
Most other instant messaging tools offer exciting features like group chat capabilities; online news, stock, and weather tickers; advanced personalization options; whiteboards for collaborative drawing and group presentations; and interoperability with other instant messaging clients. Although newer releases of the MSN Messenger have added essential features like voice chat support and file sharing capabilities, the latest release of MSN Messenger still does not offer any of the above features at this time.
Searching for your friends is another drawback in the MSN Messenger. You can only search the Hotmail Member Directory, and you must enter at least one character for both first and last name. Even more limiting is the fact that you must match the person's name exactly in order to return a successful result. Also, unlike other searches, there is no option to search for a person by their hobbies or interests; you can only search by full name, login name, e-mail address, city, state, and/or country.
