Odigo
Excellent Interoperability with Most IMs
Forrest Stroud

Excellent Interoperability with Most IMs

Odigo's excellent interoperability with ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and (for the most part) AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) adds an additional dimension to the client that will make it appealing to IM users with large lists of online friends. You can easily add all your ICQ, Yahoo Messenger, and AIM buddies to your Odigo Friends List with an automatic import feature. Then you can chat with these users just the same as you would for Odigo users, without the need to launch any of the respective programs.

The only downside is that maintaining interoperability with the AOL Instant Messenger network has been a continual challenge for Odigo. AOL has intentionally blocked Odigo from accessing its network several times now, preventing access to AIM users by Odigo users. Odigo has in turn released a "Puntch Patch" that restores AIM interoperability, but for how long? As a result of the on-and-off-again relationship with AIM, if most of your buddies are AIM users we highly recommend downloading and using both clients.
