The Mail Ticker and Additional Cool Features
One of The Bat's more unique features -- one you won't find in any other mail client at this time -- is the Mail Ticker. The Mail Ticker functions like a standard stock ticker in displaying your new mail messages across the computer's screen. The ticker offers two views: a thin view with From and Subject header information, and a standard view with From, To, and Subject information. A single click on the ticker will display the full contents of the current message. For a number of users, this feature alone is worth the cost of registering The Bat!
Additional features in The Bat! include internal PGP implementation (for encrypting and digitally signing messages), 32-bit multithreading (allowing you to send or receive mail while simultaneously writing/reading messages), automatic mail retrieval, basic address book importing capabilities (address books must first be exported to a comma delimited file, a tab separated file, or an .INI file), an address book that supports vCard files and LDAP directories, a built-in search engine for easily finding messages, a quick search command, a Mail Dispatcher feature that allows you to manage your mail directly on the POP3 server, and support for IMAP4, POP, APOP, SMTP protocols.
