While the interface won't win any awards for elegance, its simplified layout presents a minimal learning curve for new users and offers just enough customization capabilities to keep more advanced users satisfied.
If everyone based their preference for a mail client on appearance alone, The Bat! would be bypassed more often than not in favor of a client with a more appealing interface like Outlook Express or Eudora. If you did so, though, you'd be making a big mistake as The Bat's feature-set holds its own against the best of the bunch, even rivaling a number of the big dogs in several areas.
