AVP Virus Encyclopedia and AVP Control Center
One of AVP's best features is not actually included with the Kaspersky Anti-Virus downloaded but is instead offered from the AVP Web site. The Virus Encyclopedia offers extensive information on viruses, trojans, worms, and other threats to your computer. There are also mailing lists available for up-to-date news on virus outbreaks, a virus calendar for finding out when a virus outbreak is about to occur, and a top ten list of most popular viruses.
Recent releases of Kaspersky Anti-Virus have introduced the AVP Control Center, a useful interface addition that offers quick access to AVP's four major components. Components in Kaspersky Anti-Virus include The AVP Scanner for on-demand scanning of files and hard drives, the AVP Monitor for real-time scanning in the background, the AVP Updater for downloading new definition files and program updates, and the AVP ScriptChecker for detecting script-based viruses like LoveLetter and NewLove. Each component is a quick button away when using the AVP Control Center.
