Kaspersky Anti-Virus (AVP) Sufficient But Not Outstanding Set of Features Forrest Stroud
Sufficient But Not Outstanding Set of Features
Kaspersky Anti-Virus seems to be focused almost entirely on speed and virus detection/cleaning, which is of course the most important attribute to look for in a virus scanner. But the narrow focus does hinder AVP slightly when it comes to features. The Kaspersky Anti-Virus interface also suffers in this respect, as it is one of the most basic, simplistic designs we've encountered in a virus scanner.
The sufficient but not outstanding feature-set includes an e-mail attachment extraction and scanning (for Outlook, Exchange, MS Mail, Eudora Pro/Lite, Pegasus Mail, and Netscape Mail, as well as for attachments encoded in UUEncode, XXEncode, BinHex, and MIME base64 formats), archive scanning capabilities (for ZIP, ARJ, RAR, LHA, LZH, ZIP2EXE, RARSFX, ARJSFX, and LHASFX archives), a network install option, and extensive log reports and scanning activity statistics.
