As for deficiencies, the online help documentation in Visual IRC could be enhanced with a more extensive introduction to Internet Relay Chat and a Quick Start guide with instructions on how to quickly get up and running with ViRC. A few features could also be made more intuitive, especially for new users. Finally, the 1.0 release is the final update for ViRC, with both development and support ceasing to continue after 1997.
Overall, though, Visual IRC offers a ton of cool features -- many never before seen in an IRC client -- and does so with one of the most intuitive and easy to use interfaces that we've encountered in an IRC app. In short, ViRC is an easy recommendation for serious IRC users as well as for those who only occasionally chat using IRC.
