Adobe Acrobat Reader
A Free Viewer for PDF Files
Forrest Stroud

Adobe Reader allows you to read the common PDF (Portable Document Format) files that are created by Adobe's Acrobat software. In addition to the standard features found in the standalone Acrobat Reader client, Acrobat Reader offers PDF viewing from within Netscape (plug-in technology at work once again) or Internet Explorer (via ActiveX technology).

This freeware reader won't let you create your own PDF files (you'll have to purchase the full Adobe Acrobat product for that); however, it will give you the ability to read any PDF file you come across — don't be too surprised when you find more than a few of these files scattered across the Web and even on your hard drive (the new Acrobat Search and AutoIndex plug-ins are great aids in helping to ferret out any Acrobat files that happen to be residing on your hard drive).

In addition to the standard English release, the Acrobat Reader is also available in Dutch, Spanish, Swedish, Japanese, Italian, French, and German versions.
