This is an especially useful tool for Internet use as it allows you to run any downloaded program or game directly from a ZipMagic folder -- there's no need to first decompress an installation file to a temporary location and then run the installer for the program. New tools in the latest version make the process even simpler -- the DownloadMagic plug-ins for Netscape and Internet Explorer allow you to download, unzip, and install software directly from within your browser, and the ZipMagic e-mail plug-ins allow you to zip and send files directly from within your e-mail client (Microsoft Inbox, Exchange, and Outlook as well as Eudora Light and Pro are supported).
Other uses for ZipMagic include storing seldom used files in ZIP folders in order to save hard drive space, quickly transferring files or directories between computers while still retaining the ability to immediately access individual files, archiving entire directories for backup or temporary storage purposes, and much, much more.
And for the archival purists, ZipMagic also offers the more traditional methods for compressing and decompressing ZIP archives via an integrated ZipTools archive manager. ZipTools also offers support for file encryption, multi-volume ZIP archives (multi-disk spanning), conversion capabilities for other archive formats (including ARJ, TAR, LZH/LHA, CAB, ZOO, Z, GZ, and TAZ), decoding capabilities for e-mail attachments (including BinHex, UUEncode, XXEncode and MIME), an option for adding comment additions to ZIP files, and self-extracting archive creation capabilities.
