Eudora 5.x and 6.x continue an impressive track record of adding essential new features and improving existing ones with each new release of the client. A major addition in v5 is the Eudora Sharing Protocol (ESP), which makes it possible for users to automatically synchronize private folders so that messages, pictures, and other multimedia content can be shared with friends and family. The peer-to-peer file sharing technology allows ESP private folders to be shared across Windows and Macintosh platforms without requiring a server.
Eudora 5 and 6 also include the latest release of the Eudora Internet Suite (EIS), version 2.0, for Palm OS handheld computers. EIS 2.0 makes it possible to send and receive mail from your Palm as well as automatically synchronize your e-mail with Eudora. The latest release of EIS also features the new EudoraWeb browser for surfing the Web with your Palm handheld.
Another new addition is a warning tool known as MoodWatch that warns you of flame content in incoming (and even outgoing) messages. Additional features that have made their debut in the latest releases include e-mail usage statistics for tracking e-mail activity and patterns, enhancements to the import capabilities, a redesigned address book (with new print capabilities), inline editable message signatures, and a movable/dockable ad window in the Sponsored mode.
