You can launch more than executables from the Start button's Run command. Running nonexecutable files--such as those with DOC and HTML extensions--also launches the associated program to handle the file. You can Run any registered file type.
NT automatically registers common file types during installation. Newly installed applications often register their own file types as well. But you can alter and create your own file type associations through Windows NT Explorer. From the menu bar, select View/Options, then click the File Types tab. From there you can create a New Type, Remove an old type, or Edit an existing type by clicking the corresponding button.
