TIP 3.Graphical Utility Available for Scheduling Tasks
If you've ever used the "at" command-line utility you know it's a nuisance. Windows 2000 has its own graphical utility for scheduling tasks to run on your computer. To use the graphical interface, follow the following steps:
Step 1. Click on Start, Settings and then Control Panel.
Step 2. Double-click on Scheduled Tasks.
Step 3. Double-click on Add Scheduled Task to add a new task.
Step 4. Windows 2000 will run the Scheduled Task Wizard. The Wizard will walk you through scheduling a program to run.
The Wizard gives you the options of scheduling tasks to run one time only, daily, weekly, or monthly either when your computer boots up or whenever you log on. The Wizard also gives you the option of setting a time for the program to start.
Step 5. Modify the properties of the newly scheduled tasks to define various options.
For instance, you can schedule the task to stop if it goes over a certain length of time, define multiple schedules, and schedule Windows 2000 to delete the task if its scheduled to run only once.
