Route1 Mail: Full-Service Email for Everyone How Cheap Is It? Paul Jones
Route1 mail is cheap. And it gives you two rates to choose from: Per-transaction rate or Unlimited use rate.
The per-transaction rate costs nothing when you're not using it, unlike Internet access; and when you do use it, it's only a minimum of $.25 per transaction. A transaction is defined as the total length of time a user is online when sending and/or receiving messages. It's $.25 for the first 30 seconds, and $.01 for every two seconds after that. The per-transaction rate is better for those who only use email sporadically, or who reserve a permanent Route1 address, but who don't currently use it.
The unlimited rate is $5/month. The unlimited rate is by far the best option for most users. It's cheap. It's unlimited. It lasts the whole month. If you use email once a day or more, go for the unlimited rate, because the per-transaction cost of using email once a day will be at least $7.50/month. A large attachment that takes 5 minutes to download will cost $1.60 for that single transaction ($.25 for the first 30 seconds and $1.35 for the other 4 1/2 minutes).
The pricing is also convenient. Charges are added to your regular phone bill, or you can use the bank debit or credit card options. There's nothing complicated about it. Just simple convenience.
