Wrox Press Beginning Access 97 VBA
Introduction
Karl Moore

I had my first experience with Microsoft Access over four years ago. Thrown into a dark room with nothing but a computer and a packet of crisps, I was told to "create a database".

I knew nothing about naming conventions, Recordsets and very little about programming. Three weeks of afternoon programming, two hundred tears and one tech-support phone call later - and I finished my first Access application. I'd proudly christened it "ConneX", a customer recording, reporting and reviewing package.

Looking back now, it was pretty naff. Bog-standard error messages, no real modules and hardly any code, bar that created by Access Wizards. However, it worked and wasn't bad for a first attempt.

Now, if I'd had a book like the one I'm reviewing here all those years ago, suffering could've been a thing of the past. ConneX would have been more user--friendly. I could've stopped using all those darn macros -- and I wouldn't have been fired.

In this review, I'm taking a look at Beginning Access 97 VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) programming. It's a guide that'll take you through the process of writing your first line of VBA code to creating complex, reusable modules.

So, without further ado, let's begin!
