Corel Gallery 1,000,000 Err, Quite Big... Karl Moore
The package consists of a whopping fourteen CDs, claiming to hold a grand total of 1,000,000 images. And there are, I counted.
Consisting of 800,000 web images, 140,000 vector clipart images, 60,000 photos, 530 sounds, 125 videos and a partridge in a pear tree, this kit certainly throws competitor IMSI and their product Masterclips 300,000 straight out the window. Oh, yes!
However, size isn't everything. What really matters is quality--and Gallery 1,000,000 certainly isn't slacking in that department. As soon as you start the application, you're presented with a traditional search screen from where the user may locate desired images.
Just to be tricky, I pushed the image bank to its extreme. My searches for "Pope", "Zimbabwe" and "Butter" all uncovered dozens of images. These search results can be further refined by viewing only photos or clipart and by matching all/any of the keywords.
Image quality was astounding with crystal precision, ideal for 300-dpi printers and most DTP programs. And if the format of the graphics file isn't to the liking of your DTP app, the browser contains a "Convert" features to switch between eleven popular file types.
A simple double-click is all that's required to open the image in the bundled Photo House. An easy-to-use yet surprisingly effective package, Photo House is ideal for the majority of your editing requirements - including a few neat effects, too.
