Textpad 3.2

Ben Durbin

Textpad 3.2 is an extremely fast and capable text editor that comes in 16 and 32 bit versions for Microsoft Windows. It is a powerful replacement for Notepad that can really get the job done.

With Textpad 3.2, edit HTML, program IDE, edit large files, and edit multiple files. New features in TextPad 3.2 include a Polish user interface, POSIX regular expressions, interface with CSE HTML Validator, and support for the Java Development Toolkit.

In addition to the usual cut and paste capabilities in most text editors, you can correct the most common typing errors with commands to change case and transpose words, characters, and lines. Other commands let you indent blocks of text, split or join lines, and insert whole files. Any change can be undone or redone, right back to the first one made. Visible bookmarks can be put on lines, and edit commands can be applied to lines with bookmarks.

A neat feature that the author calls a "Warm Start" lets you start up TextPad and find it exactly the way you left it on the last exit. This comes in handy in hurried times!

In the End...

Overall, TextPad is a fast and easy to use Text editor that performs well. It has proven to be a good replacement for NotePad, with a long list of features. When getting the job done is work enough, you probably won't have time to learn a new text editing program, and that's where this program comes in most handy.

TextPad has been implemented according to the Windows 95 user interface guidelines and makes a great program for beginners and experienced users.
