Rarely does anyone give you something for nothing. Sausage Software's Reptile is a great and free application that lets you create funky backgrounds. Limited only by your creativity, Reptile allows you to easily produce any combination of wavy, bubbly, organic, big, small, wide, narrow, rough, or smooth textures. Besides generating a vast range of shapes and surfaces, the program also features a great way to color the textures to suit the look and feel you require.
Reptile lets you generate an infinite number of cool, seamless textures for use as Web backgrounds or desktop wallpaper. You can easily adjust the shapes, colors, gradients, intensities, and degree of randomness to create any combination of textures. There are dozens of preset creations to play with, including such "classics" as lunar eclipse, dancing blobs, embedded chains, furry beastie, squid school, crinkled foil, and digestive system. There is even an area where you can preview different fonts and colors against your generated background. Images can be saved in different sizes in GIF or JPEG format.
When you first execute Reptile, you are prompted to input the registration code which can be obtained from Sausage Software's Web site. After completing registration, you are off and running. You have a choice of Texture, Gradient, and Text for your background, and Reptile comes loaded with several different startup samples. You can view your creation at any time, simply by going to the text tab and selecting View in Browser. You can then make random modifications to your creation.
Reptile is a great tool that isn't like other free software titles available today on the Web. You should get it quick before the folks at Sausage Software realize that they shouldn't be giving Reptile away.
