Intuit Quicken Deluxe 6 Versus Microsoft Money 97 And the Winner Is? Douglas Smith
Quicken Deluxe 6, the long-reigning leader, is still the champ. As in years past, Quicken includes a financier's set of tools, ranging from a sophisticated portfolio manager to tax planning features that dovetail nicely with one of the best tax-preparation programs. But this year Quicken will find some new friends, because it has caught up with--and in some cases surpassed--the competition when it comes to ease of use. Still, if Intuit doesn't keep up with the digital Joneses (in this case, that means Microsoft) in signing up online banking partners, Quicken's quality won't mean squat. For all-around performance, as well as a blend of simplicity with power, you can't touch this year's Quicken. It's the one to buy (and if you're a Mac user, you have no choice; Money 97 works only on a PC).
