Working with Apps

Add/Remove Programs to add accessories, install and uninstall programs, use browse to find and control, alt delete to end a task or close program(s).

DOS

Start C:dos, start _. at c prompt gives you a windows view, compression can lower dos memory, MS DOS PROMPT command and Command.Com.

Fonts & Printing

Fonts folder in Control panel, printers property dialog box and examining properties tabs, reordering print jobs.

Networking

Accessing files across the network, map a network drive, System Monitor and sharing a folder. Shared drive has a hand under drive icon. Demo'd how to share a folder and assign a password. (GOOD SECTION)

Communication

Phone dialer, copying and posting a fax, fax modem properties and view fax. (GOOD SECTION)

Multimedia

Voice Mail and using taskbar to access speaker and its properties with the sound mixer and also covered media player with .avi files. (Good)

Bonus Tip

How to win at Solitaire (yuck!) and personalizing your desktop.

Summary

On a scale of 1 to 5, I gave it a 3.5. The entire video is full of content that is oriented to an advanced user. Tom does think faster than he talks and his words get lost sometimes. The video needs to be more well-blended. It is dry. One can see that Tom likes networking because of the tremendous sections like Networking, Communication and Multimedia. While I would not recommend the video to a new or semi-new user, it is a great video for the advanced user. It just needs some lightness.
