Symantec Norton Utilities 3.0 Nuts & Bolts Times Two Michael Hayman
Back in 1982, a man named Peter Norton started Peter Norton Computing. Its product: Norton Utilities, a program to supplement DOS with mission critical utilities no one should be without. With the advent of Windows, Norton Utilities was converted to a version for that platform. At first, he had some competition from Central Point Software, which was marketing PC Tools and later PC Tools for Windows, but when he sold everything to Symantec years ago, Symantec bought Central Point Software, thus eliminating the competition.
Or so they thought.
Last year, a start-up company produced a program called "Nuts & Bolts", a utility program that rivalled Norton Utilities 2.0 for Windows 95. The boys at Symantec grinded their teeth, said, "I’ll be back", and disappeared into their development parlours.
Symantec has made its return on the utility scene by releasing version 3.0 of Norton Utilities for Windows 95. And what a return it is.
