Ffyon Applications FSplit 1.5
It's Crunch Time
Douglas Smith

The folks at Ffyon Applications have created a jewel of a program. With FSplit 1.5, you can easily download a large file, split it up into manageable piece, and copy the pieces to floppy disks for transportation.

After starting FSplit, you select the Configure tab on the main screen and set parameters such as split file size, destination for the file after split, language (English or French), compression level, whether or not to build a self rebuilding file, user interface, save drive settings, and performance. After you make your configuration settings, you then proceed to the Split tab and select the file to split. At this point you press the Split icon and away you go.

A progress meter shows you what percentage of the operation is complete. When it's done, you have neat packets of data to copy to floppies and transport anywhere; you can later rebuild manually, or if you selected Self Rebuilder in configuration, rebuild automatically by executing the file. There are functions for comparing the file with the origional.

FSplit is the flagship product of Ffyon Applications and has many features: split any sized file (tested with files over 2GB), split to any sized file (tested down to 10 bytes), use only free space on a disk, a user-friendly interface (intuitive 'flashing cues' make parts of the screen flash to indicate the source of an error), context-sensitive help system, and a small program footprint--less than 1 Mb.

FSplit is designed for Windows 95 and works with Windows 98. It comes with a US $30.00 street price tag.
