Summary
Eric Grevstad

While eMail97 performed exceptionally well for us while testing all of the neat features, we did find some things that we didn't like, such as screen positioning, which would not stay where we put it after closing the program and re-opening it. The ability to save screen positions is an important plus for many folks out there, and we are no different. In addition, the eAssistant kept popping up even after we closed it and checked off the box asking not to show it again. Another small glitch that we didn't like was the inability to call up the eBook (address book) using a right mouse click like a lot of mail programs have. With eMail97 you must either hit the F4 key or select eBook from the pull down menu. We did love the drag and drop feature of the eBook, but if you are forwarding messages and can't remember the email address or it isn't listed in the drop list of frequently used addresses, you are out of luck because the F4 key doesn't work here. Technical support was exceptional. Whenever we sent a question to eSupport we usually received an answer within a few hours, or at worst, early the next morning. Other than the few glitches, which could be called user preferences, eMail97 is definitely up there with the best of email clients that we have tested and with the next version due out later this year, eMail97 could surpass the best of the best. eMail97 works with Windows95/98, Windows NT, and it comes packaged on CD with a bonus FTP program called eFTP. The PGP version is only available on CD because of government restrictions on encryption. The street price for this version is about $40.00. You can purchase eMail97 at most retail outlets and direct from eCorp. You can also download it via the Net. According to Sergio Radovcic, Chief Technology Officer and President of eCorp, a new version is due out in the fourth quarter of this year with some exciting new features and fixes. We can't wait for this release to hit and will definitely let you know just how much better this great communications package will get!
