eCorp eMail97 What the Heck is Artificial Intelligence and Auto Translation? Douglas Smith
Artificial Intelligence, or eTelligence as it is so nicely called by eCorp, is an Automated Wizard System. This is a breakthrough in technology, developed as a part of eMail97. The eTelligence system monitors the user’s activities and determines when those activities are repetitive. The eTelligence system then determines the user’s needs and suggests creating an icon that would combine and expedite repetitive actions. An example of repetitive actions would be, regularly filtering mail from the sales department and storing mail in a sales folder, while forwarding a copy of the message to the company president. eMail97 suggests the creation of an icon within a movable toolbar and essentially combines multiple user steps into the actions of an icon. This feature works quite well on non-complex filters, but needs some tweaking on complex ones. The Auto Translation feature was one of our favorite tools that came nicely packaged with eMail97. The eTranslator as it is called by e Corp, delivers the promise of true international communications thanks to the automatic two-way translation of incoming and outgoing messages in one of six supported languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. This translation can be invoked with a right-click on any message (incoming or outgoing) or by using the filtering option "Translate" to have messages translated before they are delivered to your incoming folder. In addition, eMail97 features international dictionaries for all of the above languages, including Dutch and specialized dictionaries for Medical/Legal documents. We played with this feature repeatedly and it worked quite well. In some cases using English to Spanish translation out-performed some translators by as much as 75%.
