First impression of Calypso is that it is a solid, complex e-mail client with more features than the everyday user will probably ever use. The upside to this is that most of these features are so easy to setup and use that basically anyone can use them. All mail is received in one receive folder with options to have filters do just about anything that you might want to do including, but not limited to clearing each message from the server as needed. Filters are easy to set up and use, with as much complexity as any power user would ever want. Calypso doesn't have a mail dispatcher, found on a lot of e-mail clients coming out today, but instead each message has a neat little lightning bolt appear on the header bar that depending on the color will tell you the status of each message based on right mouse click configuration. Here you can determine if the mail is still on the server, marked to be retrieved, or marked for deletion the next time you go online. All tool bars are user configurable and allow for the look and feel of any users taste from novice to power user. Calypso doesn't yet support HTML display in the message window, nor does Calypso support PGP encryption. According to the nice folks at Micro Computer Systems Inc., at the publishing of this article Calypso 3.0 beta should be launching and will support these much needed features along with a slew of new features that will be state of the art to say the least. We will keep a lookout for this new version and keep you updated on how it is looking. There is also a German version just recently released for this award winning e-mail client.
