Xceed Software Absolute Packager 1.0 How Does it Work? Douglas Smith
After installing Absolute Packager 1.0, you are presented with a fully menu-driven interface that is extremely easy to use. There are two levels in which you can run the program: a basic mode, which has three steps, or an advanced mode, which has eight steps.
The basic mode will allow you to create self-extracting compressed files from full directories or single files. The advanced mode will allow you to create these as well, except you can include encryption to the whole compressed file or individual files within the compressed file.
Don't think that Absolute Packager stops here. What makes this application different from any of the other zip programs out there is that it doubles as a software installer as well. After using Absolute Packager 1.0 for a while, we were able to install several developmental projects onto a test machine with no problems at all. You can even send out and install demo packages along with registered programs with little or no problems at all.
Absolute Packager also gives you the ability to send readme documentation along with your compressed file that will display during and after your file has been uncompressed. If you had a friend or business associate clear across the globe that needed files and had very little knowledge of decompression, you could send along a document built right into the compressed file that would spell out in detail any situation as he or she works, while at the same time Absolute Packager would put the files into a directory of their or your choice.
