InstallShield AdminStudio 2.0 Conclusion D. E. Levine
After everything was finished, I was pleased with the end product. I had several packages that I had repackaged to Windows Installer packages and they worked when I installed them on a Windows 2000 machine. It was nice to have a positive, no hassle result.
I'm certain that use of InstallShield AdminStudio 2.0 must be the easiest way to do the repackaging of packages for migration, but it is very time consuming. Because the package is extremely accurate and requires the user to validate, revalidate, check and recheck all the actions taken, this is a long, drawn out process.
On the plus side, the positive results and the ease of use and functionality of the product far outweigh the time consumed by the process. It's well worth using the package if you have packages that need to be converted in order to migrate to Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
This is a product that can prove extremely useful if you have a lot of repackaging and customizing to do. InstallShield makes it as simple as possible with graphic screens, intuitive wizards, and summaries at the end of each major step.
