Documents to Go Ease of Use Makes This Program a Winner D. E. Levine
Using is Simple
The nicest thing about Documents to Go Professional Edition 3.0 is that it really does allow you to take some of your Office applications (Word and Excel) with you and use them on your Palm handheld. And as a follow up feature, the ease of use factor--there wasn't anything difficult about installing and using it. DataViz provides a single CD-ROM that installs quickly and easily. Unlike many other products that require large books of instructions, Documents to Go is accompanied by a single, small pamplet.
The first step is to install the Documents to Go Program on either your desktop or your laptop. This is really simple. The CD-ROM has an AutoRun that lets you select the regular program and, if you choose, to add DataViz Mail (which synchronizes with Outlook mail), and a synchronization with Microsoft Outlook's calendar, contacts, tasks, etc.
Once the initial Documents to Go program is installed, all you have to do is run the program and drag the documents you want on your handheld over to the Documents to Go window on your desktop. You can also click "Add item" to browse for and select the document you want.
To move the document or documents over to the handheld, simply synchronize your computer with your Palm handheld and the document is moved to the handheld for viewing and editing. Nothing could be simpler.
Documents to Go Professional Edition 3.0 includes a total of five handheld applications. These include the main Documents program. The second application, WordToGo is used to view and edit word processing documents. SheetToGo is an application that allows the user to view and edit spreadsheet files. Two viewer applications called WordView and SheetView are used to view word processing and spreadsheet files. The Standard Edition allows viewing without editing.
To use a document on your handheld, simply tap on the document icon on the handheld and view a list of documents availailable. Select and tap on the name of the document you want to use and the document is launched and displayed automatically. By using the viewer applications you can add and delete text, edit text and format characters using different fonts.
Updating occurs everytime you synchronize the handheld with your computer. When you launch a computer document it conducts a check to see if changes occured since your last synchronization. Modified programs are listed as modified in the Documents to Go program and updated on your handheld when synchronization next occurs.
